"There is no formal or well-established correlation between individual performance data obtained through eHealth data analysis and CPD planning and programming for medical practitioners; in particular, the literature shows no consistency in type of eHealth data to analyze, software and tools to use, and models, frameworks, and processes to follow."
"More foundational work, multidisciplinary collaborations, and stakeholders' engagement are necessary to advance the use of eHealth data analysis for CPD purposes."
Despite what we may think we are not using healthcare providers' performance or patient outcomes to guide CPD - at least there's no published evidence for it. This review suggests more questions simply by asking if we are doing it.
Should we use health data to guide CPD in healthcare?
Would it work for all specialties, all roles, and all grades? What differences would there be in the implementation?
How would we measure it?
Could it have unexpected effects in some circumstances? How would we know?
