RCEM calls for 2200 extra consultants as part of new strategy to help deliver better care in emergency departments.

"The extra consultants are one of a range of measures detailed in the RCEM Vision 2020 – the College’s strategy to fix the problems facing emergency medicine in England."

Being the front end of the hospital emergency departments can perhaps make one of the strongest calls for additional staff. Whether this will be forthcoming and if the additional money can be redirected from locum agency fees remains to be seen.
